Has anyone stayed at the Lance Aux Epines Cottages on Granada? They have a great website and look very nice...

Here is the web link: http://www.laecottages.com

I agree they do look like a great place to stay. It looks pretty secluded too. I would be thinking more like staying a week though. It's on the opposite side of the island from the ship, but that's just a taxi away.

That looks like a nice place. I agree that maybe a longer stay would be warranted. We're staying at the Tropicana for night before and after. Has anyone tried it? I think it's close to where the YC is anchored but I'm not sure as we don't know the "lay of the land" yet.

I stayed at the Tropicana for a couple of nights in December..Mandoo recommended it. It was fine. The staff members seem to alternate between tending bar, checking people in and out, waiting on tables etc. so the service tended to be a good introduction to the islands. Slow.
I was on the top floor...no elevator. Fortunately Mandoo carried one of my bags.
Yankee Clipper generally docks in Grenada...doesn't anchor...and the dock is walkable from the Tropicana but not if you have much luggage.

Thanks Dave

We booked with Mandoo also so it looks like we're good.
Maybe if we can stay longer next time we can try something on the Grand Anse or some of the B&B's, etc on the island.

The Tropicana's okay for a basic and clean room, but the only real amenities are the bar and restaurant (neither of which we had a chance to try). It is slow, but friendly. I wouldnt stay there more than a night at a time unless you have somewhere else to be all day or you're looking to save cash - it was pretty cheap.

It's so close to the where the Mandalay (and I assume Clipper) docks that it was a shame to have paid for the taxi to take us there - I dont think he got out of 2nd gear before we got there. Knowing that we might have walked, except for that deadly Grenadian sun.

Oh, and if you're leaving real early in the AM - they lock the place up tight from the outside with iron gates over the doors. You need to shout for the night watchman to come and spring you.

I stayed in the Swallow cottage last fall and it is as quiet and peaceful as the website shows. The cottage dining area is light and airy like a screened in porch and it has a full kitchen. Order the larder to prestock the kitchen with beer and breakfast items.

There is an upscale hotel next door and a marina 1/2 mile up the road. The marina has a good casual restaurant and bar plus a small grocery store. There is a water sports office on the hotel beach for diving and snorkelling. The snorkelling trip is great just for the boat ride around the airport runway and up the coast. You'll see the Yankee Clipper if you go on Saturday.

Hi
I've stayed at the cottages a couple of times and would again. It's a bit of a ride from town but the beach is pretty and it's a quiet place. I always rent a car in Grenada so I don't mind being off the beaten path.
The marina is an interesting place to get a bite or a drink.

Tropicana is basic, but the bar is a fun place to watch the world go by and meet yachties, as well as locals.

The Grand is grand, but that's not what I go on vacation for, so other than having a drink there, I have no experience to make an opinion.

I hope you enjoy wherever you choose. Grenada is lovely.

Random-walk... I'm staying in Swallow this summer for 5 nights (pre-YC). Looks wonderful.
