The following is a release from Windjammer 
 
To All Ships Personnel, 
 
It is my sad, but proud, duty to Officially inform you, on behalf of Mrs. Colleen Newson, of the demise of her loving husband, Dennis Newson. 
 
Dennis passed away, quietly, on Saturday 11th. June at approximately 1330. 
 
I am advised, by Colleen, that the best help she and her family could hope for at this time, is plenty of moral support from their friends. 
 
I am certain they will receive it. 
 
Dennis will be sorely missed. 
 
Captain Stuart. 
 
I am very upset, spare a thought for Colleen and Mikey and the loss of a true 'Windjammer'. Dennis, more than anyone, lived and loved what Windjammer was all about.

Wow....I'm speechless and very sorry Capt Neil, and to Denny's family and friends. 
 
Yesterday, at Galveston JFest, we had a toast to Denny while around the pool. Then again, we toasted him while sailing the Capt Kidd last night. We also were listening to Neil and Denny on their CD. Wow. 
 
God be with you and rest in peace, Denny.

So sorry to hear the bad news. 
Denny was always willing to chat when he was working during the stowaway. I always enjoyed seeing him and learning from him. He was always a smiling face even when things were not quite right.

Even though I never had the pleasure of meeting Denny, but I have read so much here at the Flotilla about him.... ... a very, very sad day.... thoughts and prayers and strength to his wife and family ..... fair winds, Denny, we will miss you here, but they are pretty lucky to have you up there!

I don't believe that I ever met Denny in person, but I'll always remember his posts here when we were scrambling to find everyone after Ivan, and then getting us all to PW. I was so impressed by him. 
 
My deepest sympathy to his family and to all of his Windjammer colleagues and friends. I know he will be truly missed.

My heart is heavy and sad with the loss of Denny. <img src=http://www.jammerbabe.com/images/Smiley/bighug.gif ALT=":bighug"> to Colleen and your immediate family. I had the honor and pleasure of sailing with Denny only a couple of times. What a fine person!!! All of us WJ out here will miss him and would physically hold his family if we could. For those of us who get left behind , I offer you the following:

exactly where you are meant to be.... 
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are

I never had the pleasure of meeting Denny or you but I have heard so much about him and of course, you. His spirit will always be in the sails of any Windjammer that sails the seas, in the sunsets that God has chosen to be seen by all and in the sunrises that awaken every day that God has painted on the horizon. 
 
Please know that the Newson Family will be in the thoughts and prayers of many

Colleen, 
please accept both Gisela's and my deepest condolences, you have both worked very hard to maintain the “windjammer” concept. He will be sorely missed by everybody that had the pleasure of knowing him, The “France” became the “Legacy” mainly though his (and your) commitment to the company, so maybe they should let the Discovery,(Le Mer) become his “legacy”, and name the ship the “Denis Newson”

We only knowing met Denny once on an Amazing Grace cruise when he was installing a new radar. Had some interesting chatting while he was up on the radar antenna platform. Our sincere condolences to Colleen and the rest of his family.
