Jim, thanks for finding that. I've been trying to find some news on this without any luck. My vote is for an inside job or a recently dismissed disgruntled employee. An outsider getting access to backups is very "disconcerting". <p></p><i></i>

The hack itself doesn't trouble me so much - online systems are vulnerable - nothing new. It's the failure to implement a true disaster recovery plan that includes tape backups stored offsite that has me really ticked off. <br>

but, after frequenting a few sites that used phpBB, I wouldn't recommend them. Site was ALWAYS down and having problems. But that was a while back, so maybe the situation has been rectified??<br>

Thanks, Tom. I'm already on it. Look for news in the coming weeks after the final restorations are complete and I pull the data over. I won't let a little thing like a hacker keep me down for long, and I don't plan to let go of the Flotilla anytime soon. Despite my hectic work life, the Flotilla is the one thing that keeps me grounded. It's unfortunate that we will lose some of our history due to Ezboard's utter incompetence, but we will rise from the experience stronger and with the ability for to perform our own backups. <br>

Although the new board is already up (phpBB) I'm not giving out the address yet because I plan to migrate all of the data from here to there and I'd prefer to do that before people begin posting. <br>
<br>
BTW - the only problems we might encounter on the new board will be caused by my own mistakes as I tweak the format and if my web host goes down. They have been quite stable over the past 4 years. <br>
