Am seriously considering taking a two week WJ for Christmas and New Years. Any feedback about on board celebrations. I have never been away for the holidays but I would like to start a new tradition for myself this year
Thanks
I did the Poly for Xmas 2003 and The Yankee Clipper for 2004
The ships are decorated and the meals are special. The islands you go to are all lit up. especially Bequia. It was hard to get an anchorage last year. All the Yachties come in for Xmas and NY. We were in St Barts on the Poly. Again all the yachties and the Mega Ships, (you know, the ones with helicoptors & stuff) show up there. (snobs) I haven't done the New Years sail, I have heard it is a blast! Now a B2B both weeks would be Awesome
I'll be waiting for the trip report
We have done it twice now. First time, Flying Cloud in the BVI for the xmas/new years cruise. Very fun. The following year went to Grenada and stayed on the Clipper for the 2 weeks. Great tradition! (but then ran out of $$$ to do on a yearly basis - darn).

Lots of festivities aboard & on the islands. Bequia was the new year's location - very fun and great people watching.

The ships have a small tree, and they have caribbean/reggae xmas carols. Very fun.

Jammer Weeks: 11 weeks, 2 weeks that never happened
I am of doing Thanksgiving this year on the
I could actually stay down there longer and not take any more time off! That would be awesome.
I have heard that they do serve the standard turkey and dressing, but hey, they have done that before when it wasn't even close to the holiday! So that doesn't concern me.
Just being on the ....
I did Thanksgiving on the Poly last year and it was awesome! They did the traditional Thanksgiving dinner that night with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce....Just no pumpkin pie for dessert. It was awesome and I don't know what they did to the mashed potatoes but they were the best I've ever had. The appropriate after Thanksgiving meal coma followed dinner. We spent the day in Bequia and took the Passion catamaran to Mustique and had lunch at the The Dragonfly or Bumblebee or something and had the worlds most expensive pizza - but it was good. So the two meals were quite a contrast and made for a very memorable Thanksgiving day in the Carribbean!

Thanksgiving is out of the question for me as I have another tradition since 1998. I am a vehicle balloon driver for Macy*s Thankgsgiving Day Parade in NYC. So if I do not go for the two weeks for Christmas and New Years, it could be until January that I go for two weeks.

To see and enjoy Christmas in the islands sounds wonderful. I love the twinklin lights and to see them on a palm tree would be wonderful. I am used to seeing them on an evergreen tree.

So as soon as I am told that I have a permanent position at my current job, the next phone call I will be making I think would be to reserve the holiday trip

Thanks for all the feedback and Tomtoes?? I LOVE the pictures. Very convincing
Christmas Day and New Year's Day are both on Sunday this year so the chance of hitting either are slim. Christmas on Mandalay is possible but I bet it is sold out.
