Even though I'm one of those newbies, who should be careful as to what I say, I actually want to thank the flotilla for the raised flags. I think the lesson should be that you take everything with a grain of salt (this is how you should act in real life also :D

If you wonder about the reality of any story, you may want to do what I did, research it- call WJ customer service supervisors - this story is apparently known. They will tell you they are not responsible for any offers made and not kept by outside companies. They will write an email on your behalf to other representatives, but that's it.

Its too bad that this couldn't be solved way back- promise a hat and shirt before you get payment- give the hat and shirt-a little good PR certainly can't hurt- maybe even get a sale--my family is full of salesmen- I know how a little can go a LONG way, and 'nothing' goes even a longer way.

Anyway- at least I have made up my mind as to what I will or will NOT invest in.....so my readership here has already paid off--I hope I can return the gesture sometime.

Happy sailings-
SailingTraveler

I have all the documentation about the sales rep in my office, I'll send it to you privately next week....

I'm very happy to answer your concerns and tell you of my personal experiences.

WOW! Thanks for the info regarding sales techniques. After my girlfriend's husband called WJ to confirm, they decided that if promises aren't kept before you sign on the old dotted line, they certainly will be harder to collect on after you have paid your $. We decided to park our moola and wait for the time being- perhaps a new company will assume sales in the future?

Anyway, thanks again for sticking you neck out on this one-

Suzy

I got everything I was promised and more. I am extremely happy with the program. And yes there are some risks. I guess WJ could go out of business.

My problem, unfortunately if that happens.

What sales techniques are you talking about? I have not tried to sell either of you a sea-cabins membership or for that matter anything else. Nor have I tried to sell your girlfriend or her husband anything.

The program is what it is - there are no promises that need to be made. When you can sail in an Admiral for under $600 per person vs paying $1800 what else needs to be said? The savings are just as great for each of the cabin categories.

If you have had issues with a local sales rep, why haven't you talked to Trey about it? Trey has stated that reps who are not acting appropriately have been dealt with in the past and he would deal with them again. And i would think that after dealing with a new person, if you decided to buy, you might receive a little something extra.

the program is good and has a lot of merit. I am happy that i bought into it. And the main reason i did is because it is more like a vacation package than a timeshare. there is a beginning and end date, there is a set price. If something happened to me while i still had weeks left, those could be deeded to someone. And at the end, i have the option of buying another 10 years and 1/2 price. Right now, I am sailing for $540/pp, not including maintenance fees. I am a very satisfied customer.

I agree with you, Tigger. We bought ours last year and have used 4 weeks already (needless to say, it won't take us 10 years to use our weeks up!), and I have no complaints about the program. When we bought ours, we were already booked and had paid $1000 down, and we were promised that we could use our timeshare weeks for that trip and the down payment money would be refunded. Sure enough, that's what happened. Trey said it right - who can complain about sailing for $600 a week or less? And now we have guaranteed vacations to look forward to!

You can lead a horse to water.............

They deleted your story of the lies told to you when you posted here before, perhaps if you tell the story and leave out Trey's name, and be diplomatic, you might save someone else from any deceptions. As I understand you, you are not saying anything against the concept, only the tactics used by the messenger. I realize you make no financial gain by sharing your tale with us, and hope others would see that you have nothing to gain except the sharing of experiences.......if the experiences are true, why not warn and share. Perhaps you may want to have people contact your customer service contact to get feedback on WJ's view of the tactics..........just a thought- of course you can do what you want, at least no one can claim later that they had no idea about what was going on.

Trey, maybe just give Windcruiser what you promised, and move on.

Relax- cool down- ;)

Be happy you are where you are in this and have suffered no loss, those who are interested will weigh your experiences and comments, that's all you can ask for...if anyone has any questions of you, they can privately message you and you can tell them what you like about anyone, or refer them to the people who advised you...........

Relax mon (can 'mon' be used in the feminine?) :D :8

well, heres a thought. I am actually curious as to what bad experience they had. I don't think there is any harm in letting them tell it here, in an objective way..... that way those of us who have had positive experiences can weigh in better too....right now it seems that there is some deep dark problem thats being hushed up, maybe causing more harm than letting it all out.
I for one bought in last year and just booked my first cruise on the Poly. I have had no major issues at all. Trey has been very responsive (except my last email in Oct. but I understand he has been a tad busy!) Maybe there was a misunderstanding that we can help clear up?

Sue

Might as well report the good news as well..We just got canceled on the Grace with her in Dry Dock using our 3rd Timeshare and were very nicely moved over to the Legacy by Manny with no problems at all...Also received a very nice apologetic letter from the home office and a box of sea chest goodies for our trouble...Now this is the way to keep the campers HAPPY!!!...SeaDogs Don/Patty

OK, here's my question in all of this:

(Picture of me fanning the flames....)

I hear ya on the Time Shares and I haven't signed up. But the question is this....when will La Mer be ready to sail? That's the conflicting info I have received, not so much on the Time Share stuff but more the ship itself.

Thanks,

- Steve

Steve, It doesn't appear as though much work is being done. We don't care. As long as she isn't ready, we get to sail on the other ships at no extra cost, which is why we bought in.

^^^Ditto ^^^

I wanna keep sailing the Mandalay, so let La Mer stay in Trinidad for a while longer. I say amen to that brotha.

Bottoms up to us timeshare owners...."Huzzah" and Merry Christmas to all and to all "GOOD NIGHT".

Patty and I were just talking over the LaMer schedule and we finally realized that it seems to make good sense for windjammer to delay the introduction of the laMer as long as they possibly can...As you know, they lost the 65 people per week with removing the Flying Cloud a few years ago...but are still having cyber sailor specials every week to try and fill up the other ships..This is so even though they now have the possibility of up to 3500 LaMer people (1800 cabin weeks) also filling up some of the vacancies...at the possible rate of 70 people (35 cabins) per week..

There is no rush, therefore, for them to add another ship in the fleet at this time...I thought with the Grace out of commission for the next 3 months that the other ships would have gotten all filled up fast but they are still pushing openings on them...I figure, at this rate, when the LaMer does come out either the Poly or the Mandalay and Yankee Clipper will be history as I can't see them also filling them up.....As you know, they are not quite ready to throw the towel in on them just yet..They also still have a few more years before they are forced to either dump or retrofit them...I wonder if they are going to loose some of their loyal following with the new rate increase??? Even with the new rate increase they are still about half the fare of the Star Clippers...

So like you guy's and many others I guess we will continue to not sweat the big stuff and enjoy the old ladies as long as we can...HA!!!

Something I noticed today in the little promotional E-mails that get sent out for sea cabins: La Mer is no longer even mentioned and I guess it hasn't been in some time
