Hi
We are going on the poly out of Aruba on July 22,2007. I've been on 2 other windjammer cruises, but this is one I've been wanting to do for some time. Just wanted to see if anyone has done it recently and might let me know some of the places, tours, etc etc . You know what I mean.
Many thanks for any suggestions.
thanks
joe

Hey Joe!

You're going to love it!

First off, the best sights to be seen on this itinerary are under the water. Definitely take advantage of the on board dive mates: Ori and Phil on our recent cruise. They even have a Discover Scuba trip for people who've never dove before. I can say from personal experience that they are the most patient, helpful guys you could ask for being new to this. I was an absolute nightmare and they were never anything less than kindly encouraging and gentle with me.

I just posted a review of the Kukoo Kunuku bus in Aruba on the Before and After forum. Definitely a good time.

It's pricey, but worth every penny to do the Dolphin Swim in Curacao. You can sign up for it on the ship. It was $338 for two people, but it was the most amazing experience. I thought we'd get just a kiss and a pet, but we were in the water actively involved with the dolphins for a full half an hour. At one point, we put our arms out to our sides, a dolphin swam up to either side of us so we could grab their dorals fins, and they took us for a ride. It was awesome!

I took other excursions, but those are the ones that really stand out.

I know you'll have a great vacation. I'm insanely jealous that I won't be going with you.

Thanks for the suggestions on Aruba. Anything you might suggest on Bonaire or Curaco?
thanks

The Dolphin Swim IS in Curacao. I'd also take the shuttle into Willemstad and walk around a bit. The beach right next to where the ship docks has excellent snorkeling, too.

Bonaire is where you really need to get your face in the water. Whether on your own or on a dive or snorkel excursion through the ship, it's world class here. Also don't miss the water taxi to Klein Bonaire. The island tour was great and the area adjacent to where the ship docks is excellent for walking and shopping. Bonaire was my favorite: quaint, charming, non-commercialized, and gorgeous water.

You'll have a great time!

Yes, the dolphin swim in Curacao is highly recommended. We also did an island tour there going to the Curacao licquer factory and to Dinah's herb garden - this was very interesting as well.

Have a great trip. I am repeating this intinerary at the end of the summer.

Awesome pic Tigger! :8
I could spend a week in Curacao just at the Dolphin Academy.

That tour sounds great, Kate. We weren't offered anything like that on the ship. (5/20 cruise) The shuttle had a guide who gave us a running commentary on the way to Willemstad, but that was it. I would have liked a more comprehensive island tour like they offerd in Aruba and Bonaire.
