I have two permanents, also. One from Tony on the ankle, and the other from Popeye on the wrist. They will only be removed in the event of an emergency. They are lasting memories of some of our best vacations!

Does anyone know what kind of thread was used to make the bracelets? I know some of mine faded and some didn't so if I buy some I want to get the good stuff.

I've had a braided toe ring on continuously since May of 1997. We were on the Mandalay, with Captain Casey. Francis, the purser had one, and I thought it would be much easier than a bracelet since I have to wear hose at work. Soil braided the original one. It's been replaced 2 times now, once by Rudy on Mandalay about 2004, then most recently by Kevin, August 2008--Mandalay's last full week in San Blas before everything fell apart.

If I'm not mistaken, it's nylon and I bought some at both Hobby Lobby and Michael's. It's usually in the yarn section.
