Built by Aero-Jet general and launched in 1964, Discoverer’s mission was an
outcome of President Reagan’s 1983 proclamation claiming sovereignty over 200
miles of coastal waters for the United States known as the Exclusive Economic
Zone (EEZ). The EEZ contains vital natural resources. It was Discoverer’s
mission to study those resources.
Discoverer’s new mission will be to provide fun filled vacations in the
Caribbean, reincarnated as a four masted sailing vessel filled with happy go
lucky passengers enjoying the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean and the
allure of exotic destinations, all with a famous Windjammer rum swizzle in hand.
Itineraries will vary from year to year giving passengers the best of the
Caribbean to enjoy.
